With 19–23% chromium, 23–28% nickel, 1-2 molybdenum, and 1-2 copper, stainless steel 904L is a low-carbon, high-alloy austenitic stainless steel that improves corrosion resistance, particularly against phosphoric and sulphuric acids. It has good weldability and formability, a tensile strength of about 490 MPa, a yield strength of 220 MPa, and an elongation of 35%.
