Stainless steel 904L flat bars have a maximum carbon content of 0.02% and are made up of 19–23% chromium, 23–28% nickel, 4–5% molybdenum, and 1-2 percent copper. Its resistance to corrosion is improved by this composition, particularly against reducing acids like sulphuric acid. Mechanically, 904L provides a minimum elongation of 35%, a yield strength of 220 MPa, and a tensile strength of 490–710 MPa.
