The ferritic grade of stainless steel 430 has a low carbon content of up to 0.12% and roughly 16–18% chromium. It provides outstanding oxidation resistance at high temperatures and good corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive environments. In addition to having good ductility and formability, SS 430 round bars have a moderate tensile strength that ranges from 450 to 600 MPa. They can be strengthened by cold working, but they are magnetic and cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
