The martensitic stainless steel alloy known as Stainless Steel 431 has a carbon content of up to 0.20%, 1.25–2.5% nickel, and 15–17% chromium. In mild conditions, it provides outstanding corrosion resistance, good toughness, and high tensile strength (up to 850 MPa). Following heat treatment, it retains a respectable degree of ductility while achieving high hardness and strength.
