High-carbon martensitic stainless steel 440C contains 0.95–1.20% carbon and roughly 16–18% chromium. After heat treatment, it offers exceptional hardness and resistance to wear, with a tensile strength of up to 760–965 MPa. In mildly corrosive environments, this grade also provides moderate corrosion resistance. It maintains outstanding dimensional stability and edge retention under stress and is magnetic in all circumstances. 440C is a great option for demanding industrial components because it performs exceptionally well in high-strength and high-wear applications, despite having a lower resistance to corrosion than lower-carbon grades.
