Stainless Steel 430 is a ferritic stainless steel alloy with a low carbon content (up to 0.12%) and roughly 16–18% chromium. It provides outstanding resistance to oxidation at high temperatures and good corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive environments. Rectangular bars of SS 430 have good ductility, outstanding formability, and a moderate tensile strength (approximately 450–600 MPa). Due to their magnetic nature, they can be cold worked for greater strength but cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
