The ferritic grade of stainless steel 430 has trace amounts of silicon, manganese, and iron along with roughly 16–18% chromium and less than 0.12% carbon. It provides a moderate level of corrosion resistance, particularly against stress corrosion cracking and oxidation. The material has good formability and machinability, a tensile strength of 450 MPa, a yield strength of about 205 MPa, and an elongation of 22%.
