Nilo Alloy K Bars and Rods consist of about 29% nickel, 17% cobalt, and remainder iron, with trace constituents being manganese, silicon, and carbon. The resultant mix provides the alloy with a thermal expansion coefficient closely approaching borosilicate glass and alumina ceramics. Nilo K provides a tensile strength of about 520 MPa and a yield strength of about 340 MPa in annealed form, with higher values in cold-worked condition. The alloy exhibits structural stability up to 400°C and has good thermal fatigue resistance and fair machinability for precision parts.
