Stainless Steel 316L Round Bars and Rods contain 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, 2–3% molybdenum, and minimum carbon content (up to 0.03%), with the remainder as iron. The low-carbon grade improves resistance to intergranular corrosion, particularly post-welding. 316L has a mechanically delivered tensile strength of approximately 485 MPa, yield strength of 170 MPa, and elongation of 40%. The introduction of molybdenum enhances pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chloride environments. These are complemented by great toughness and weldability, making 316L suitable for applications involving utmost importance in hostile as well as wet environments.
